RuPaul Drag Race – On Track To Winning S11

With a little bit of a rocky start to the season and the unjust elimination of Scarlet Envy, this season was making me really nervous. However, the most recent episode of and the overall diversity of the remaining queens I feel the second half the second will be stronger, fingers crossed. In the last episode of Untucked (Bad Girls Club: Drag Queen Edition) the topic of if being safe can still win you the crown. Brooke chimed into Yvie and Silky’s argument to state “Sasha was safe every week and won”. Yvie’s prompt witty comeback response was “that’s cause Sasha was talented”. Being a drag obsessed overaged twink I don’t remember Sasha always being safe so I wiki’d her path to winning and it was in fact incorrect but it got me thinking, could one be safe 7 episodes in and still be safe? I decided to break down the winner’s performances in their first 7 episodes to see if there is a pattern, or a code to crack. Since season 1 was only 9 episodes and the season 2 winner is blacklisted from the community, let’s dive in with season 3.

So there is no code. The only thing the winners have in common is that they were never in the bottom 2 in the first 7 episodes. Let’s see how the stats of the remaining queens compare to the previous winners.

With every past winner having one challenge win under their belt 7 episodes into a season, it’s fair to count out Shuga and Vangie as our winner. Unless Nina West has a perfect run to the top, it’s a long shot for her which is disappointing because she’s my personal pick to win. If I were betting solely based on stats our top 5 rankings are:

5. Akeria Chanel Davenport

4. Plastique

3. Silky Nutmeg Ganashe

2. Yvie Oddly

1. Brooke Lynn Heights

It will be interesting to see how the fanbase reacts to the final 5. Silky is having is Eureka-esque. Eureka also had a social media racism scandal which didn’t help her case to win the crown but I wonder if the fanbase will hold Brooke to the same standards due to herpre-seasonracist scandal. At this point if I had to put my money on a winner I would pick Yvie Oddly. She has delivered LEWKS (uniqueness), brought the drama (nerve), slayed acting challenges (talent) and gives great confessionals (charisma). Also her laugh is infectious.
